Since 2000, we have supported the education and promotion of youth sailing.

Time to educate.

The Mentor Harbor Youth Sailing Association (MHYSA) was established in 2000 by Past Mentor Harbor Yachting Club Commodore Tod Sackett. It was Commodore Sackett’s vision to promote youth boating through education.

Today, that vision continues as an independent 501(c)(3) corporation with an independent Board of Officers established to:

Operate for the Advancement of Boating Education.

Boating education starts with us. We want to support organizations and people who continue the love of sailing through learning and practice.

Develop Safety and Boating Skills for Young People.

Skills and safety go hand in hand. Preparing young sailors with the knowledge on how to react in any situation is crucial to becoming an independent sailor.

Support Charitable and Educational Activities.

Making sure educational and charitable organizations have the funding, equipment, and resources to be able to fufill their goals is how we are able to promote our love of sailing.

It is the Mission of the MHYSA to advance boating education.

Mentor Harbor Youth Sailing Association is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit corporation. The specific and primary purposes for which this corporation is formed are to operate for the advancement of education and development of safety and boating skills of young people and for other charitable purposes, by the distribution of it’s funds for those purposes and associated expenses related thereto; and equipment needed to support such activities.
